THE MACHINE
The Underwood 315 already looks as though it knows how to write a love letter. Then you press a key and discover that it actually does.
Finished in vivid teal, bright blue, crisp white, and punctuated by a wonderfully unapologetic red tab key, this Spanish-made portable belongs unmistakably to the Olivetti era of Underwood. It is light, modern, colorful, and worlds apart from the black office machines that first established the Underwood name. Manufactured in Spain after Underwood became part of Olivetti, the 315 shares much of its design philosophy with Olivetti's later family of portable typewriters.
Its defining feature, however, is hidden on the type slugs. This machine writes in a graceful cursive script typeface that transforms ordinary words into something resembling handwritten correspondence. It is elegant without sacrificing readability, giving letters, journal entries, poems, invitations, and everyday notes an unmistakably personal character.

This machine has been cleaned to the point of functionality, mechanically inspected, and tested here at The Typewriter Mechanic. The principal writing, carriage, paper-handling, ribbon, margin, and tabulator functions were operating properly at the time of listing. A new ribbon is installed, and the machine will receive a final inspection before shipment.
